Noyau de levures liquides pour chevaux: protocole et résultats - Horse Nutrition Project

Liquid yeast core for horses: field protocol and measured results

In our Wet range, we use a core of inactivated yeasts in liquid form. Here we share a field study testing this liquid yeast core for horses. The targeted effects: digestive comfort, reduced stress effects, shinier coat and better hoof quality. These yeasts provide MOS, FOS, beta-glucans, free amino acids and B vitamins. The aim is to remain faithful to the observations.

Promises or proof? We chose to measure

Many products claim to have digestive and behavioural effects. Owners need simple, measurable indicators. We have developed a short, easy-to-read trial to quantify the effects felt on a daily basis. Precise digestive criteria, well-being criteria, plus a single grid for skin and hooves. This framework facilitates before/after comparison and ensures reliable interpretation of the results. The common thread remains unchanged: liquid yeast core for horses.

In the field, not in the lab: our test in detail

The trial was conducted under field conditions on four dressage horses in good health with no known digestive disorders.

  • Period: January 2023, duration one month.
  • A horse has windsuckling
  • Dosage: 10 ml/100 kg (≈ 50 ml for a small horse, 60 ml for a horse measuring 1.65 to 1.80 m), in the morning with feed.
  • Rating 0-3, three times a week, with final statistical reading.
  • Digestive system: reaction to girthing, palpation of the stomach, post-prandial yawning.
  • Well-being: cribbing tapped 20 seconds after each meal, three times a day, three days/week.

This framework objectified the effect of a liquid yeast core for horses.

The numbers that matter

  • +21.5% improvement in gastric comfort in all 4 horses.
  • −41.7% decrease in tic frequency.
  • +25,5 % sur la qualité du poil en un mois, poil plus brillant et plus doux.
  • No significant effect on hooves after one month, probably too short a period.

These results apply only to this protocol and this period!

Key points in one minute

  • Adding a liquid yeast supplement for horses has positive effects on digestion, stress management and coat condition.
  • Hooves require longer monitoring.
  • Short and reproducible method, simple and measurable criteria.
  • For testing in stables: 10 ml/100 kg, followed by 0-3, same criteria, before/after comparison over one month.

Conclusion: we measure, we progress

The liquid yeast supplement for horses shows objective benefits within a month. Prolonged observation will refine the assessment, especially for hooves
